2004's ending in...less den an hour! so i'll like to wish EVERYONE here a HAPPY NEW YEAR and a BLESSED 2005! especially the army dudes! haha..
what a way to end the year.my heart goes out to the over 125000 casualties of the Tsunami that hit Asia.A stark contrast to the kind of holidays they expected, and a very very painful way to remember this year. i've done my small part in donations, and i feel for all those caught in this very unfortunate disaster.
come to think of it, this year has been a very very bad year. 1st the bird flu thing hits us, then the economy, and now this? guess life's never straight and smooth going...so live ur lives to the fullest and enjoy every moment of it! (sounds damn freakin cliche and stuff...but yea its true! what's the point of sulking now when u can enjoy?)
so that brings me to my nxt point : celebrations! my mum's bday today (happy bday mum!!) but she kinda lectured me today when i went "what's wrong with celebrating the new year ?!" accordin to her, i should feel for the victims, all the corpses and the COUNTLESS casualties..but ofcos i do feel for them..that's y i'm not gettin myself drunk and stuff.but tink about it, should we NOT celebrate?
i mean...i'm realli sorry 200plus singaporeans are missing/dead/injured becos of this, and nearly 100000 indians are.but look at it this way : 200 plus of 4000000 singaporeans?? that's like not even 1% of the population. while the entire nation grieves and mourns the dead, is it totally fair for the 99% of the population to NOT celebrate after working their asses off this hectic 2004?? i hardly think so..its as good as some guy living in punggol got his car stolen, do you think some guy living in Jurong, for example, can care more? (this is a really bad analogy...sorry)
i mean...every day there's a catastrophe somewhere in the world, jus of different magnitude.i know this is the WORST earthquake in 40 years in the ENTIRE world, and its severity shakes the very foundations we live on.but think of it this way, the number of casualties actually is LITTLE compared to the number of people affected by quakes in Taiwan, Japan, Turkey or even train wrecks in India. the number of casualties in singapore may even be lesser then the number of US soldiers dead in IRAQ and Afghanistan (no offense..please). so why make such a big fuss? in all honesty, i still feel for those affected.deeply infact...so much so i totally support mediacorp's decision not to air the countdown (which i heard is rather depressing in fact)..but can we all cheer up a little and pray for a better 2005?
ok enuf of that crap..in 2005 i hope for...peace, ofcos, health to every1 i know and preferably every1 in the world (yes...crooks and villians alike.they deserve to be punished by the law..but atleast be healthy until they are proven guilty). on a more personal front, i would like peace and prosperity for singapore, my FAMILY n frnds...and ofcos a WONDERFUL time in the ARMY! hell...jus give me an enlightening time there yea? it may be very tough and stuff, but so long as i have wonderful stories to tell my grandchildren (yes...i want to have grandchildren!) i'm very very delighted :)
