now let's hope this works..haha.my 2nd time typing this entry thus the emotions may NOT be there anymore...oh well jus read la k?
let's start with...china!haha...as all of u guys know, i was in china straight after 'A' lvls, and i won't regret that history lesson of a trip.haha.but the thing i regret is not fully enjoying myself there.
went to beijing first...the political centre of china..and a freakin cold place to be! the whole time i was there, i had to wear atleast 3 layers to keep myself reasonably warm.a little bit of advice to whoever wants to visit china during winter : always always bring a snow cap (or beanie) and be very generous with your skin! the first day there i was so confident of my ability to take the cold, my ears were half frozen while i was standing at tiananmem square! that was the first time i really feared my ears will drop off cos i can't feel them!haha.moisterizer is a definite must because the temperature may be hovering arnd 2 degrees, but the relentless gale and shrieking winds at nite can be as sharp as the sushi knife my mum's wielding..it freakin hurts your skin so bad its like wearing a spiked shirt, with the spikes facing inwards!
further inwards frm tiananmen square (its not as big as what history textbooks say....its simply BIGGER! hell..it makes the padang look like a puddle compared to an olympic sized swimming pool) is the forbidden city.what ever i'm gonna say here is no exaggeration..so don't start sayin i'm jus being lame abt the sizes, ya? the entire place is HUGE ! its so gigantic i got a feeling an entire LRT line ( like the bukit panjang one) must be built if u are gonna travel from one end to the other! before the enormous main palace, there are 7 (i think) smaller palaces (or dian4 as they call it) for very stupid reasons. each of these dian4 is as huge as...let's say the chinese high's clock tower..and inside each one of them there are GLEAMING polished floors, wooden chairs and lots of accessories for the emperor..making each dian4 look like his personalised office (man...bill gates must be jealous!) in any case...the reason why a LRT line has to be built is because the journey frm the FRONT gate (which has mao zedong's portrait) to the main palace is a good 20 minutes walk! haha...that's how long it takes to travel...no wonder one of the dian4 is built solely for the king to rest before he meets whoever comes to visit him! its designed so that the emperor can rest, and probably deservedly so cos of the journey..and ofcos to recap what's the reason of his ridiculous walk since such a long journey's bound to make u forget y u even bother to come out in the 1st place! here's abit of history into a life of an emperor...u wake up, eat like a cow, drink like a buffalo, fool arnd like a childish lion (with ur concubines normally), sleep like a hibernating panda and have sex like a raging rhino...and that's how the average lifespan of an emperor of china is only...30 years.rox ain't it? they have 70 concubines each to fool arnd with...and that's no inclusive of his wife! haha...man..his wife must be the most jealous lady ever! the palace itself is therefore designed to house all the servants, concubines, any girl who just wanna have sex with the emperor to mayb get some fame, his family (VERY big family) and any1 else who mite wanna stay there..thus making it...VERY big.haha.it has alot of rooms, and since most emperors are as arogant as the one b4 them, they love to leave something behind so that every1 knows he once lived in the palace, hence the whole place is like...a chain story; i write something, pass it on to u and u write something to continue the story, and u pass in on to the nxt guy...haha..what a bad place to live it sia..the whole palace is made of mainly marble (very expensive kind..) which makes u wonder...y is china so poor?! stupid question aint it?
anw...realised i spent alot of time and space on the stupid palace but its realli spectacular..so much so it makes that Tang Dynasty thingie in singapore look like a little bush in the forest.haha..oh well beijing has another to offer though: the great wall! whoever thought that walkin the wall is simple...think again! before u walk along the horizontal portions, u have to climb up the vertical portions going up hills..and each stair is designed in such a way...it is on average the distance of ur lower arm! how on earth are ppl gonna climb such a steep set of stair case without falling? and we ain't talking abt coming down yet! hell...the ancient soldiers must either have freakin long and strong legs or small feets, or dey have amazing balancing abilities cos even with modern railings ppl still tend to fall! by the way..it takes 11 months for a person to walk the whole wall...so think abt its length!haha...
oh...one more lesson to be learnt when u go china..always hope ur tour guide is bilingual, cos there will ALWAYS be free loaders! the people frm china (not all, ofcos) are so thick skinned that they can jolly well stroll into your house and use your toilet and maybe ask you to flush it for them! (ofcos this is only figuratively, and not all are lidat). while touring the tombs of the kings, this group of mainland tourist were there too...but there not to sightsee only, but to listen in on a free explanation and documentary on the various tombs and origin! hell..they were tailing my group (me and my entire extended family) throughout the entire tour, listening to what my tour guide was saying. its ok if they listen without disturbing, but believe it or not, they have the audacity to actually stand in our way (while we are tryin to move closer to the tour guide to listen on her explanation) and even ask us to move aside so that they can get a better picture of what is being discussed!! hell!! WE PAID FOR THE TOUR GUIDE, NOT YOU DICK HEADS !! one of them actually blocked my mum's path and pushed her aside to move closer! hell!! the tour guide tried sth quite smart..she offered us a FIFTEEN minute toilet break in hopes those asses will leave ( for your info, there are women amongst the free loaders too) but nO! they loitered outside the toilet, waiting for us to get ready, and moved on the moment we moved on!! man they are so thick!!
anyway...incase u're wondering abt snow in beijing, well i've seen NONE. sux...all i saw was the dense fog (which delayed my flight to shanghai by 5 hours) that leads to the snow...and the tour guide was saying 2-3 more days here in beijing and u shld be able to play with snow flakes..hell! i always miss out on the snow in china! shanghai is a huge change frm the fairly run down beijing..its the commercial hub of china and rightly so! it has 7000+ sky scrapers (30 stories and above) and each of them hav intricate lightings at nite, making shanghai's sky line at night look like a disco party! even the expressways and fly overs (hell...singapore has only 4 tier roads max..shang hai has 7-8 tiers! their fly overs are so high, it makes a 10 story HDB building look like a standard chinatown shophouse!) have vibrant blue lightings on the side...which looks really cool and star-wars like! the only shitty thing is...despite spendin hell lot, the cost of branded stuff there is as much, or more) den its cost in singapore when converted back to S$..so don't bother goin to china to get cheap stuff cos the currency strengths is useless in shanghai! my bro bought a pair of adidas bball shoes...and it cost 200 plus in S$..u get the same pair for slightly cheaper in queensway! but may i mention...shanghai has devoted an entire industry to imitation goods? and piracy of goods (not intellectual property, but simply clothes and shoes) is really LEGAL! they dedicated a huge place jus for such shops! the shops sell stuff which makes singapore's pasar malam go to shame, and the imitation looks so real, i heard an ang moh hip hop lookin guy comment that "check that out dude, i bought the same pair of sneakers for a hundred bucks plus, yet i can get the exact lookin replica for only 70rmb! no one can tell the difference, dude!" it looked as though the newest technological breakthrough in china's economic boom has been on the art of duplication! cool ain't it? i bought a hell lot of DVDs sia!haha..
the rest of the china trip's been visiting temples, tombs and palaces..pretty much a history field trip but hey, the ppl there rox! we were waiting at the hotel lobby for our room keys when a guy started shouting at the security guy of the hotel...all because his car cannot park! man...dey were on the verge of throwing punches sia...and in singapore such cases will automatically demand the appearance of the police cos blood will be spilled! but these china guys are...zai! they can shout and wave their fists, but the closest physical contact is my saliva on ur face cos i was speaking too fast!haha..it was worst in the beijing airport.since the flight was delayed some guy got so cranky he actually threatened to punch a beautiful lady behind the information counter! hell...the lady didn't get help or sth, she shouted back at the guy!! haha...shoutings were so common that one night we heard shouting goin on at a street shop, and we tot there was a fight but the tour guide non chalently said "they are just chatting..." haha...how cool!
oh well...enuf on china la..i'll do prom nxt time i'm free!
