alrite..someone managed to persuade me to add something to this place. (not that anyone will read)
clearing leave's such a fun thing to do. for a LONG time i've been dreaming of the days i can wake up at 8am and rot around watching VCDs of all the movies i've missed. and its finally happening! haha!
the 2nd good thing is...i've got my COC ! *clap*clap* its been so unattainable that when CO finally said he'll pass me, it sounded as though i'm still dreaming and when i was actually stand-in OOD, it felt as though i was at the wrong place. weird huh? like dreaming of a million $ for your entire life and when it finally popped up in your bank, you can't fathom its existence and donate it to charity. haha!
so how have my life been? NDP's playing a big part in my life now, and each passing rehearsal makes me more nervous than ever.for the past 2 preview shows, the word of the day is screw-up. nothin went according to plan and it got abit worryin to be honest cos with only 1 more preview show to the actual day, loose ends are still loose and tight ends are getting looser!!haha. alot of contingencies had to be exercised and truth be told, preparation could've been better. but nevertheless, the parade atmosphere for the last preview show was...wow. never in my life have i heard such defeaning screams sia...not even in clubs! and that comin frm pri 5 kids!

<-- colours party immersed in a sea of red (cicadas as my commando dudes complained)
CDF was seen shaking his head after the show, and that means we are in deep shit. but fret not! the enciks are working on it hard (yea...hard..) and now all we have to do...is get it done right on the final day!(win the war, accordin to COL Koh, P&C Chairman) not that i'm worried for the state colours. we've only managed to screw up on the actual preview shows and not all the other rehearsals! how comforting! haha. standby for a damn interesting parade come 9 aug!

<-- the 3 state colours (more like 3 lonely musketeers)
for those who plan to catch the actual parade live in the stadium (with all the hype surrounding the FINAL parade in the SACRED national stadium before it goes down), honestly speaking you'l be better off watching it at home.atleast you get live commentary in all 3 languages! don't quote me on this, but i seriously think this year's parade is a huge let-down. alot of lights display that will test even the most seasoned arts festival enthusiast, and very little into the theme of 41st bday of the nation.seriously, either i have totally no arts sense of something's quite wrong with the whole parade. oh.. prove me wrong please !!
the most interesting thing about being a part in NDP is that you get to observe the multi-dimensional aspect of human-human interaction. when something goes wrong, you see the intense competition amongst the Warrant Officers to out do each other by coming up with non-sensical and at times totally ridiculous solutions to problems (not that all solutions are absurd, some are indeed fantastic). MWO will overwrite a 1WO, who will overwrite a 2WO and so on, each with their own version of how things will happen. and us poor young officers jus stare at them wondering who's makin more sense and who's actually saying the right thing. funny eh? the one who actually makes the most noise is usually the one who's the least involved. haha. pretty much sounds like a group of aunties (no offense..sorry) bitching about losing a few petty dollars in a game of mahjong.
then you come to the officers. they always say officers lead the men, and part of our officers' creed is to "lead my men by example". guess officers nowadays should be termed super-MAN. practically all the time i see officers running around organizing stuff, whilst the MAN just stand there and laze arnd. so the guy doin most of the job is....the officer himself! who's leading and who's following now? officer leading the officer himself eh? haha. so much for "to lead, to excel, to overcome". u lead yourself to excel in what your guys are supposed to do to overcome your guy's reluctance to work. yay! so...what has been GOOD about NDP06? shall be frank. despite all the negatives i've written above, NDP06 has been an eye opener for me. i've always dreamed of marching in a huge parade, and nothin comes close to NDP. the experience itself is self-rewarding, and it has been a truly good time to make new frnds and interact with the other services. and amidst all the confusion and chaos, i've found myself a new employer! the traffic police! screw the SAF, here comes the new generation of TPs! Vroom!

p.s. ofcos i CAN'T screw the SAF. didn't mean it at all. i'm only kiddin abt the TP but the bike's reali cool eh? free ride thanks to the friendly neighbourhood speed-buster!
